As an individual and maybe as an organization, you may have questions about whether you are allowed to provide an individual assistance. THAT IS A VERY GOOD QUESTION TO ASK.
Unless you are an attorney, it is important to not cross the line between helping an individual gather the correct forms and advising them on what should they should actually put on the form. Under the tab "Helping Others" we will provide some suggestions on what we believe crosses the line between support and representation.
Now, if you are an attorney who wants to provide pro se assistance, there is some good news. In 2022, the Federal Regulations were amended to provide specific guidelines to attorneys providing limited assistance with document preparation. See, Fed. Reg. Vol. 87, No. 177 (Wednesday, September 14, 2022)(codified at 8 C.F.R. 1003.17). We have included a link to the Federal Register below. Moreover, if you are interested in volunteering to help Immigrants with applications, we are putting together both in-person and online trainings. We would love to get you involved. It need not be an overwhelming personal or professional commitment and just a little investment of your time, could make a huge difference. So please reach out.
